Founder Isa Brito started her journey with plants during my childhood. She was raised in Brazil, on a farm hours from the next town, so she relied heavily on home grown food and folk medicine. She was smudged with Rue to ward off my nightmares. She seldom wore shoes. She was happy, safe and free.
Some years ago, she embarked on a highly rewarding journey of reconnection with plants as allies, studying with local herbalists and others from form faraway lands too. All of Isa's Restoratives' products come from that study and are made in small batches, with much love and attention.
Many of her herbs are locally and mindfully harvested, and Isa enjoys using plants that are very abundant in her area (now she lives in Brooklyn), like wild rose, violet, mugwort, comfrey, chickweed, plantain, yarrow and hawthorne among many. She also uses plants that she grows in her own garden such as lavender, skullcap and motherwort. Organic oils and other ingredients that she must purchase are acquired from trusted sources, often small local suppliers.
Backing up everything with science is one of Isa's passions, and the chemistry of plants and their properties are essential knowledge in formulating the Isa's Restoratives line.
